Nouveau Bassin

Site

The new basin is situated Caen and Mondeville' s area, right bank, kilometre 1. It is composed of the Hippolyte LELIEVRE quay, the Gaston LAMY quay and the NORMANDIE quay.

Nature du trafic

Hippolyte LELIEVRE Quay :(post C6-C7) it has a platform and a warehouse of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Gaston LAMY Quay : (post C1 to C5) equipped with a surfaced platform and a stronger lighting to receive the cruise ships.

NORMANDIE Quay : (post B1 to B4) equipped only for the handling of fuels in bulk, coal, pitches, coke... It is put at the Combustibles de Normandie's disposal (LCN) within the context of "Autorisation d' Outillage Privé avec Obligation de Service Public (AOP/OPS)".

L'accès maritime

After going trough the locks, the ship has to sail for about thirteen kilometres on the channel, pass the bridges of Bénouville and Colombelles, then the viaduct of Calix whose draught is 33 metres.

Only ships 145 metres long (or less) and 20.50 metres wide can have access to the new basin ./p>

Access time : the average time to reach the Calix basin is two hours and and a half.
