Site

The Herouville basin is situated on the channel from Caen to the sea, in Herouville's area, right bank, kilometre 3. It has a swinging room area of 225 metres in diameter.

Type of trafic

Since 1995 : the site has been redevelopped, and this since its integration into the port property granted to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Caen.

Post E6/E7 : post used for the handling of Northen woods, it can also be used for handling heavy parcels, other goods, fertilizers in big bag. It is also possible to receive ships with 4000 tonnes of ammonitrates.

Post E2 : specialized in the unloading of in bulk (ore, sea agregates, sand, gravels, pebbles...)

Post E1 : can be used only as a waiting post.

Maritime access

After going through the locks, the ship has to sail for about eleven kilometres on the channel, pass two bridges : the bridge of Bénouville (width of 40 metres) and the bridge of Colombelles (30 metres). Access time : the average time is two hours.
